Project Detail

Francis K. Shattuck Building Restoration
2108 Shattuck, Berkeley

ShattuckRenderingThis is the oldest unreinforced masonry building in Berkeley and our scope covered the structural design for:

  1. seismically retrofitting the existing building (right)
  2. adding a 4th floor to the building
  3. restoring the original turret
  4. expanding the floor space within the existing shell.

We employed a wide range of timber, steel and concrete solutions in our design. Our efforts earned us a Certificate of Recognition from the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association.
