Project Detail
Francis K. Shattuck Building Restoration
2108 Shattuck, Berkeley
This is the oldest unreinforced masonry building in Berkeley and our scope covered the structural design for:
- seismically retrofitting the existing building (right)
- adding a 4th floor to the building
- restoring the original turret
- expanding the floor space within the existing shell.
We employed a wide range of timber, steel and concrete solutions in our design. Our efforts earned us a Certificate of Recognition from the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association.
